As a Computer Technicians was involved in upgrading our computers to Windows 11, you provide support for computers and networks in a variety of settings, from small businesses to larger institutions. Your responsibilities include ensuring that computer hardware and software is operating efficiently and that employees can do their jobs. You may also install new technology for your company, if needed.

What is higher than a technician?

Providing computer support is a great way to use your skills and meet people. The more you interact with people, the better your customer service skills will be.

Problem-solving and technical proficiency are important for this career, but you’ll also need good interpersonal skills to communicate with clients and resolve issues. You can improve these skills by completing a college degree in IT or an industry-related field and earning certifications in areas like Microsoft, CompTIA and Cisco.

The right education is key for a successful entry-level job in IT. A bachelor’s degree in information technology or a closely related field will give you the foundational knowledge you need for IT troubleshooting, software management and IT security.

A certificate or diploma in IT can also help you gain experience and build connections in the industry. Many local colleges offer fast-track certification programs that can prepare you for an entry-level IT position in a short amount of time.

As a Computer Technician, you’ll be working with customers who often have very specific and pressing technology needs. This requires patience and the ability to keep your clients’ needs in mind, while offering solutions that work for them.
